1988 4runner 63" chevy spring

This is my first 4runner project but have built other trucks mostly chevys but always wanted to switch to a trail rig instead of mud bogger.... So I bought a 1988 1st gen 4runner with 3 inch ifs eliminator kit from trail gear for the front end and already have front and rear axles for the conversion, but the rear lift on there was over $800 which i don't have to spend and still want a good rear lift without having to have 4inch blocks in the rear. Which brings me to my question about the 63" chevy springs for the rear that I've been reading about. Like what are all the parts I will need for this and will the front lift match the rear. Pics of your build with parts and advice are welcome.

I'm running a 4 inch TG IFS Eliminator Kit (3" springs) on my 88 PU and have Chevy rear springs.

The chevs will not lift enough to match the front. Even more so with a 4Runner. I had put a 1 1/2" block in to help but had axle wrap. Pulled out the blocks and added another leaf from another spring set I had. Stiffer ride but works.

Davez Off Road has some 63" springs with more lift for a decent price. I'd get them if shipping wasn't so much.

Sky Off Road has a 63" Chevy conversion kit you can look at.

My son was just patient and found some used rear All Pro springs on CL for cheap and they worked out perfect and flex great.

So you need front spring hangers that need to be welded "I THINK" 11" forward of stock.

Rear shackle mounts that get welded on "I THINK" 4" back from stock. Basically directly behind the old mount touching it.

A set of 6" center to center shackles. I made mine. And the bolts in the Chevy spring bushings are 9/16" so get the right bushings and make sure all the mounts have 9/16" holes.

Most aftermarket Toyota springs have either 18mm or 19 mm bolts and bushings so pay attention to what you buy.

You need a U-bolt flip kit and shock mounts to weld on. I used 10" shocks and it uses every bit of the travel. You will also probably have to rotate the axle for proper driveline angles when you weld on your mounts.

I welded some scrap 2" sq tube on the stock bump stop mounts on the frame to limit springs from going inverted.

You will also need a longer rear brake line to avoid tearing it off at full droop. I bought one but, have been TOLD you can extend it using a stock front one.

You MAY have to move or tweek your parking brake mounting stuff depending how much you rotate your axle. Check here or Pirate for the amount you move your spring mounts. I "THINK" I told you correctly for your 1st Gen. Double check.

This seems like a lot but you will do it for whatever springs you choose. Some people use F150 springs too.

I'm also thinking of finding some Chevy lift springs to see if I can get some extra lift.

ZUK uses coil springs where the bump stops go to "assist" the leafs. Check that option out too.
