i replace my own tanks, or repair them. i've done my cj, camry, 4r, corolla, accord, fuego.

not sure about the recycle fuel? once it gets used, there isn't any to recycle.

i'd have to check my receipts, but i got both the camry and 4r tanks from rock. camry $90, 4r $125.

Your shop bill is going to be probably $50 to $75 and hour. Welding shop will be on the higher end. If you can finish this project for $200 with a new tank, pull the trigger on it and start taking yours out while it's on the way.

Or, I guess, try the JB weld approach first.

If you go the used route, I personally have found tanks from the little rv's to be in the best condition. Tony

OK, finally my gas ran low enough and I got around to fixing this.

I must confess that, for now, I took the quick and dirty route. I removed the previous patch and sanded it down. See the first picture. You can clearly see that the leak is due to a puncture, not rust.

I then put on an epoxy putty, the POR-15 . It was expensive ($30) but highly recommended based on my reading. I used 1/4, but ended up with too much, could've used about 1/10. See patch afterward.

I will try to update this thread with the status of the patch in a year... or sooner, if it doesn't last that long.

Thanks again for all the advice

I have used Red-Kote https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199.../#post51633022 to seal tanks.

I don't know, Artem....I don't see any liquid flow....no wetting action. I see shadows at the edges of the putty. It's gonna come off as one big gob later on.

Just wanted to give a year-later update. On top of the POR-15 patch, I applied some rubberized spray paint to protect it from water. The patch seems quite sturdy and has held on great so far -- no problems at all.
