1987 22re Code 11 help

I'm getting a code 11 which states: "Switch Signal - neutral start switch ON (22re) or IDL point in throttle position sensor is OFF during diagnostic check".

Can anybody tell me what this means? I've just replaced my TPS with a brand new unit, and pretty sure its set correctly. The problem I'm trying to correct is lousy fuel mileage and inconsistant (and high) idle speed.

Thanks!!

It means you have a malfunctioning or misadjusted TPS. Or the Neutral Start Switch is ON during the diagnostic check.

Ruling out the TPS, it means there's a short the Neutral Start Switch circuit. Unless you intentionally switched it on before checking for codes.
