Is 190F thermostat to hot for 95 3vze

Replaced head gasket on my 95 3vze 4runner and found a 190F/88C kuzeh thermostat installed from PO.

Haven't had any overheating problems with it, but was wanting to know if this is the correct stat for colder climates, I'm in northern Canada.

Or did this contribute to my head gasket failure?
temp gage stays around the halfway mark all year long.

The FSM lists 180 as the correct thermostat.

I've run that for 10 years in cold weather and it's always blow great heat.

Don't know what problems the 190 would cause.

Thanks for the reply Marc. I think I'll go with the 180. If it works in winnipeg it'll sure as hell work in ontario.

180F will definitely get heat in the cab quicker than 190F.

With any 3vze motor I would stick with a OE Toyota thermostat 182 degrees there a little pricey but worth it.
