I consistantly get over 20mpg on the highway in the warmer months. It drops to ~18 mpg in the winter. Mostly highway driving.

I am starting to feel this too. I dont know what it is but the last 2 tanks of gas has flown out of my truck...

I shift
1st- 3000rpms
2nd- 2800rpms
3rd- 2500rpms
4th- 2500rpms
5th-3000rpms

I'm very light on the gas just to save myself the money. I'm running 4.56's and 33x12.5s. I think my o2 sensor might be on its way out at 170,000miles. I honestly could say I was one of those people getting near 20mpg a few months ago but I've noticed a drop probably to like 13-15mpgs the last 2 tanks. Any input on me possibly shifting TOO low?

If it makes you feel any better, the last 4 tanks in my 87 22RE I averaged about 80 miles to a tank. I should really look into finding the problem, just havent gotten to it yet. And the 80 miles is 100% wheeling. (zero street time)

My Rincon gets about 20mpg, all off-road. Of course it weighs about 580lbs with a 680cc engine. I estimate it would be more like 50mpg if it weren't always off-road.

So 80mpt is possible depending on what kind of off-road you are doing. I'd guess that is about 6mpg.

O2 sensors can drop your milage fast. The best i ever got out of my runner was 18 mpg and that was coming out of the mountains in neutral!

I get 14-15 in town, low 14's with the A/C = approx 220-230 miles per tank

On the highway @ 65 I can eek 18.5 out of her no roof rack and lightly loaded, probably not now because I need a tune.

oh yeah, my fuel capacity is probably slightly reduced from the dents in the gas tank

I assume you are talking about your TD Hilux? A TD with a steady foot at 60mph would get 32mpg. Wish we could get them here.

My Volvo TD gets 44mph at 60mph steady. But it drops to 35 at 80.

My 4Runner gets 14mpg seemingly independent of what I do. Probably something not right, but it runs so well, is so reliable... and my wife won't let me pry it loose from her fingers.

but back on subject, recently replaced:
EGR vavle
plugs
cap+rotor
wires
new intake, no leaks, works great
k&n air filter(not very dirty)
new O2 sensor
new timing belt

even with all that done i'm getting about 10.8-12 mpg city
i think it may be cause i've never replaced the PCV vavle(can't get that mother out)

but soon i will be replaceing the vavle cover gaskets, pvc, and cleaning the intake manifold...and runnung some seafoam
hopefully that with a new tranny will put me back at 18mpg city

(note i'm only running 31s with stock 4;1os)
there is a place around here called rancho auto recycler. thier toyota program will sell you a used one for a 4runner for about $60-$75

my 22re auto pickup is getting about 10-12mpg city driving. horrible.

i havent drove the 4runner enough yet to know the mileage, its a beast with no power steering. i really need to fix that.
i drove it for about a good hour last night though, shifting at 2400rpm every time and the gas guage didnt move at all.
