11 in lifted toda with a dual t case question

Just built my 86 yoda with a sas and engine swap now I got it in the shop because im not an expert on new braking and fuel lines. I put a efi v6 chevy motor in it and kept the stock tranny and transfer case in it with a kit from advanced adapters and wonderin how to set up a dual transfer case before I order the drive shafts. Its got a chain driven t case so Im wonderin if they make a dual t case or addapter to make the stock one a dual? I still have all the ifs and alot of stock parts for sale in the marketplace forum so let me know if you need anything. Thanks Dave

Marlin's web site should have the answer in their tech section. I'm almost positive the crawl box has to be gear driven that will need to have the 23 spline input from your tranny. You can use the chain drive for rear t-case but you will be limited to stock gear ratio.

so I wont be able to get a low side of gears? I thought that was the reason to get a dual case?

Well, in order to get the 4.7:1 low range in one box you need a gear driven transfer case..
So yes, you can get dual transfer cases, but you need a top shift gear driven.

Another option, though Toyota would be cheaper even when converted to 23 spline front and rear with 4:70s in rear. You could go with GM tranny and a STAK or Atlas t-case.

and that would be cheaper because that marlin double t case built is 1100 kind steep for my rig

If you figured out how to swap in a GM motor than abuilding a crawler box will be a cinch. I tore down a t-case and reassembled it I was suprised how easy it was. Marlin makes the adapters so that all the press fit stuff is already done.

An Atlas II and STAK are $3-5K depending on what you opt for.

You can always look for something used. Thats where my crawler box came from.

craneguy, just find a used tranny out of an 86-89 pickup or 4runner, then get the xcase seperated..

thanks for the info mudpig maby later when I sell all my ifs stuff and all the stuff I took off my rig to make it the way I want it Ill be able to afford a setup like that but for right now im tryin to keep it less than a grand. I havnt got the motor runnin yet but I think the motor swap will be well worth it because im doubling the hp and tq for a fraction of the cost of rebuilding the 22 re and putting a turbo or some kind of power adder like that. now I just have to get the trans and t case on the right track without goin way over my budget

Do a little research on Marlincrawler and Inchwormgear.com. They both have adapters to put duals behind the r150f trans that came behind the 3.0v6/5speed combo. Your best bet would be to get the adapter to go behind the v6 trans, and run two stock gear (2.28) transfer cases. This will give you a 5.2:1 transfercase ratio as opposed to the 4.7:1 single case option. Then you could always upgrade the rear case to 4.70:1 later.

I was talkin to a guy in another forum that is runnin 4.88 gears with 35s in his toy with a stock 5 speed and he said that in 4 lo he can let off the clutch and it just creeps along and in 2 hi itll do 75 down the highway. so maby ill just change the gears for now and since im putting lockers in anyway. then if its not right after a while change to a dual case. what do you all thing.
