All joking aside. If it gets pulled and the rear end drags it's the brake shoes. Just don't pull it for several blocks, a few feet will let you know.

The only other thing I can think of is a rear diff full of water/fluid.

I guess that's all I have.

Oh and I'm in the midst of a divorce, I'll trade you to her for an Aussie locker in 7.5" IFS.

yeah man rear drums easy to check ... drive shaft easy to come off... get thrust it works better than liquid wrench or p.b blast.. then use 4 14 mm wrench or one wrachet.. or break out the air or breaker bar if its got canada rust! maybe use heat and waxx too!

Hit with penetrent, remove bolts, kick with your foot Wedge a chisle in there, it should make the splined section compress and allow it to drop.

Jack up the rear end, does it move?

Well, With mine being a 5spd also.
My dads buddy advised me to jack up the rear axle, take the tires off and bang on the drums, Viola !!
guess they were just stuck.

On Another note
The Blue one on the right is my 91 with a bad motor.

The beige one on the right now is my wrecked 86.

Their currently being shiped somewhere in SO CAL.
