Yakima/Thule Roof Baskets

Hey all 4Runner owners! Just curious, I've seen pictures of other removable-top 4Runners with the Yakima roof baskets. I went to their website and to the Thule website and both companies do not recommend "this product for my vehicle".

What do y'all recommend? Did you reinforce the top or what? How much weight can the top support? Did you drill holes in to the top and bolt up the basket or utilize the drip rail rack system?

XtraSlowXtracab, just did a test per your post and it seems that I just walked around the top of my ( " Xtra" ) top for chop! and the strongest areas seem to be about a foot in from the apex of the top the edge . But I also walked on the center ,so weight spread out should be capable of about 200lb ? this is a good point though and I will investigate further and mount mine and stand on it soon

Maybe due to Easter?

I don't know about the 'glass roof on a runner. Although when I lived out in Utah, there were lots of runners with racks. Most, from what I saw, just had the rack feet bolted to the top. A couple had made a plate for each foot to disperse the weight over a slightly larger area.

I have a Thule on my pickup bed as you can see in my avatar. I made a rail for each foot and bolted it to the bed rails.
