Wiring harness issues

O.K. heres my problem: I picked up an 85 4runner from a guy who built it back up from 2 85's. He used an ECU from a 88 4runner. I've found that the O2 sensor is not hooked up and I found that some wires from the ECU are bared and poorly labeled. The O2 sensor wire is fed thru the shifter boot and sits unattached nearby the ECU. Of course the CEL is throwing a O2 sensor code and I'm getting about 8 MPG. Any help would be appriciated, wiring diagrams and the like. Hoping 4crawler will drop some wisdom on this!

toyota made major wiring changes in 88. They're basically incompatible with previous years. find an 85 ecu and go from there.

Thanks but I think theres a better answer than that.
Let me rephrase the question: I'm looking for a wiring diagram of the ECU that shows clearly which wires coming from the ECU are the O2 sensor wires. There should be 4 leads.

I recently bought what is an 85 that the PO rebuilt. He replace the wiring harness and ECU with an 88. The problem is that the pathway for the wiring from the sensor location before the cat was circumvented by routing the wires up through the shift boot and routed to the ECU from there. After replacing the exhaust and o2 sensor I was still getting CEL codes for o2 sensor. I then removed the ECU cover to find that the wiring was disconnected/ poorly connected. I am now finding it confusing as to which wire connects to what. They don't seem to go same color to same color and I could use the extra gas mileage. I've posted on other sites and haven't received any good advice. Some seem to think that the 88 wire harness is incompatible, but everything is working well and I'm convinced if I can get it wired up correctly I would be good to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
