Has anyone managed to source a grommet that goes in the firewall of a 1985 truck and fits around the wiring harness behind the drivers side fender? If you did how did you mount it on the harness?
It seems although there is zero rust around the panel seams I am getting water in both through the perished grommet, and also through the seam directly about it. Pictures attached. I am going to cut out all the old seam sealant and reseal the seams, both sealed and not from the factory. There is some cracking of the nearly 40 year old sealant in several seams behind the fender.
Thanks Traces of a leak under the grommet and in the seam above it. Grommet is well past it's sell by date Various cracks in the sealant behind the drivers side fender
That might work, but will need the wiring harness to be disconnected at the connectors to be passed through. I am always worried about breaking the plastic parts at 39 years old. I am trying to find a regular grommet that I can cut and then superglue together once it is over the harness. Failing that I will use a plastic grommet and seal it with marine sealant and try that. After removing the passenger fender I now need 2 grommets!
