What is this and should something be attached to the tip? It looks like a hose should go there but I don’t see a lose hose and can’t find anything online.

It looks to me like the actuator for the cruise control. The device that operates the throttle to maintain the set speed. It should have vacuum from the throttle body directly to the connecor. There's a place on the throttle body that has 3 vacuum line connections. A line directly from one of those to the actuator is the key. Does that help at all?

thank you! I think that may be it! I’ll take a look at the throttle body and see if I can get it connected.

Make sure the cable out the opposite end from the vacuum line goes to the throttle body. Same place the cable from the gas pedal goes. Make sure it's on the correct way, ie: it pulls the throttle open, just like the gas pedal does.
Good luck!
