Vacuum Disaster

Vacuum Disaster
I have a 88 22re, a 82 22r and a 84 22r in a 4runner they all have one thing in common... SIX THOUSAND VACCUM LINES!
Is there any way to eliminate some or any of these and still keep the truck running okay?
Im more concerned about the 22r, the i understand what most of the lines do in the 22re.
Im having carb problems on both of the 22r's i just got them yesterday. I know i need new fuel lines for both of them and the choke is kinda messing with them.
the guy who had these trucks before me has screws, sticks, hose clamps and a ton of other junk plugging off a bunch of lines and looking at the FSM is like looking at algebra to me.
Not sure if the vaccum junk has anything to do with it but id like to get rid of it if possible.
Would i need a different carb to do this?
I know weber makes a 22r carb, are there any other good carbs out there?
I have been a fan of the site and have been coming here for info for a long time! thanks for the help!

I would go with a Weber carb replacement.
Like this one: http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...A-8136AFD3FFDD
I hear a lot of good things about them and best of all, it will eliminate 95% of your vacuum lines!

i found a diagram that shows minimal vaccum junk. i think im gonna try this before i swap the carb.
i also read a ton about the weber carbs.
for a stock motor use 32/36
for any mods(cam, header, ect.) use 38
the 36 and 34 models are fake webers and are junk. out of probably a hundred articles only three that i read said they actually liked it and had no problems. they have junk gaskets and are just poorly made.
