Twin stick with single case?

does anyone run this. I have seen pictures of the twin stick with guys running a second case. so if you are running it i would like a picture please.

I have a forward shift case right now. but I may just convert to a top shift then run the twin stick. cause my tranny shifter comes with in millimeters of my t case shifter already. I dont thing twins will fit in the stock location.

any more info on this will help.

For front shift, yeah, probably. [EDIT: I was wrong, TG makes a front shift version.]

If you switch to top shift, no.

I currently run a single top-shift case (with a 4.70 low gear) with twin shifts. I love it. Being able to quickly shift in and out of four, independently of shifting between high and low is great. I can get pics if you'd like, but it is nothing special.

You should be able to just buy a twin stick setup...no modifications required unless you have a setup that twin sticks aren't made for (then you'd have to convert it to topshift I think).

I always wondered if the sticks hit the shifter in 2-4-R, but with a top shift case the t-case shifter is pretty far back as it is.

Not to be negative but I don't really see the point. I run twin stick had the intention of making tighter turns with a rear autolocker but not as handy as it sounds. Would be better to put your money on another mod, IMHO.

When it came down to it, I always made the same decision every time I considered a twin stick setup. There's just so much more you can get out of $200 on our trucks compared to a twin stick.

If I ever do get one, it'll either have been a gift or due to a massive influx of cash I wouldn't know what to do with otherwise

$200? Try $129 for his forward shift version from Trail Gear (http://www.trail-gear.com/twin-shifter)

I did mine simply because I was already pulling the T-case to do a 4.7 upgrade, so it was a good time to do it. Now that I have it, I would have spent much more. It is incredibly convenient, and puts you more in charge on the trail, with more flexibility and options in how to approach different situations. Being able to shift in and out of 4wd without changing ranges is great.

Just my opinion, of course. If you don't like them, then you don't have to get one. I like mine.

Huh, wonder why I thought it was $200...

I'm not saying I don't like it, I do. But when it comes down to it there's a lot of other things my truck needs that are more important.

A vast array of shifters for a center console would look pretty awesome tho...

the reason why i want one is because I have a aussie in my front axle. Which i love. but it does get kind of annoying to have to fight the steering a little when the trail is easy. so Im just looking for a quick way to switch in and out of 4 wheel. plus the 2lo feature is also good.

as for trial gears forward shift model, the only difference I can see from the top shift model is just the mounting plate to the case. to me it seems like the trans shifter is going to hit in 2nd 4th and in rev.

Most Ftoys I've seen run twin stick single case. If you've never tried it, you should.

Pretty sure there is a forward shift model.

Twin stick rocks. Let's you shift from 2WD to 4WD in between trails on the fly and more gear options.

I like the idea of the twin stick for a single case. The option of running 2-4 low when ever you want is cool. If you do have front and rear lockers I can see it being even more helpful.

I have the dual case set up. I use the 4.7 case with the twin stick 90% of the time and with a lock rite up front it comes in handier than a pocket on a shirt.

I have a friend that runs it in a single case and the pic with the welded up shift knobs makes sense. He couldnt shift into 2nd or 4th with the 4.7 engaged. Not for sure what model tcase he has (forward or top). We had to unscrew the knob and it would work but it was really difficult to get it lined up.

On mine i cant run reverse in 2L with the front case engaged. The shifter knob is waaay to big from TG. I'm thinking of heating up my Tranny shifter and bending it ever so slightly so that it doesnt hit.

I got a twin stick with dual cases and a front autolocker. Don't work as great as it sounds, but handy at times. As for Ftoys got it but we're talking stockers, apples and oranges.

It really makes a great deal of difference twin stick single case to twin stick duals. Those ARE apples to oranges.

Ftoy driveline is stock Toyota stuff for comparison

Well surely we can agree that a comp Ftoy is used for a different purpose that a trail and DD rig.

I installed a twin stick into my single 4.7 case when I installed a front lockright. So far I've been really pleased. It's nice to be able to engage 4wd only when really needed so you're not putting so much strain on the front end. A lot of people complain that it's hard to shift the twin stick in and out of 4wd, but so far I haven't had any problems. It moves really easily between both gears. I'd say go for it since you are running the front aussie

when I went with mountain cop in the snow he kept sliding down the side of a off camber spot and couldnt get the front to turn pointing up the hill so i suggested he shift into 2wd and it worked, the rear just slid down leaving the front where he wanted it, thats when i knew i would be putting a twin stick in mine when i do my 4.7 gear change.

With all mods considered you can do to a stock Toyota, tcase 4.7 gears and a twin stick will/can make the most difference in what you can do and where you can go. The other being a rear locker and some armor.

I love my twin stick. Wish I had added it when I was running a single case. I run ARB's, and being able to grab 2wd, let the locker unlock, then back to 4wd is the bee's knees. I'm all about selection and choices.

do you have a top shift or a forward shift?

Im for sure going to do it. once my 4.70s show up (which I think is under the Christmas tree) im going to install both at once. I guess i have to some modification. I just don't know how extensive yet.
