transmission wont come out

my shift fork broke today so it was stuck in forth gear. so im taking the transmission out. but it wont seem to come out. all the bolts are undone and the bellhouse will come about 3/4 inch off the engine. but it just wont drop, what could be stopping it?

Maybe the throw-out bearing crooked on the sleeve? If I recall, the shift fork is only "snapped" into place, so you may be able to work(force) the trans to seperate from the shift fork, if thats the case...

if its the 3. 0 engine, i had the same problem. took me a while to figure out the exhaust crossover pipe was catching it.

make sure the starter is removed, that will catch on the engine block. while youve got it out you might wanna do a whole clutch kit.
