make sure the splines on the input shaft are lined up. when i put my w56 in it took quite a bit of turning and head scrtching to get it to go but i had two other guys helping me shove that thing in. P.S. are you in wash. mo. If you can't get it in by sun. and you are located in the area p.m. me i have the day off and would be willing to help.

90% of the time the splines won't go in because you don't have the tranny level with the motor...

if they are off by a few degrees it won't work.

you'll know when you get them lined up, the motor will slide in like butter on it's own.

I'm going to be driving right by you tonight. Might stop by on sunday on our way back up from Oregon if you don't have it fixed by then.

get some of the bolts barely threaded in then try lowering and raising it from differnt points with your jack . Mine looked just like yours and i threaded the top bolts a little the i jacked it up right where the gap is in your pics and mine went right in . did you use any grease on your spline? Good Luck

That happened to me, all I did was 'lay under the truck' and bench press the tranny bell housing. You will lift the motor and tranny and watch your fingers. it'll pinch together really fast

NEVER USE BOLTS TO DRAW THE MOTOR AND TRANNY TOGETHER (sorry, says it in the FSM, just figured i'd let you know)

What did you do to squeeze them together?

Naw, use the bolts ... haha ..

I was just saying what the FSM Said.

How did you get it closer?
