Which Tool(s) do I need for front hubs/brakes?

I am replacing my front rotors and calipers on an 85 toyota pickup 4x4. I think I need to take the hubs off (and want to look at them for wear). The FSM calls for a SST 09607-60020 which I believe is just a 54mm socket. Can I just go buy a 54mm socket that will work or does it have to be a certain (thinner) tool?

A normal 54mm socket will work. I think its a 2 1/8" will also work. I don't recommend it but I have used a punch and hammer to remove that nut.

You'll also want a fishing scale to measure the drag resistance. I must confess that I didn't use one the last time because I was in a hurry but when I do it next time I plan on doing it right.
