Thanks to you all!!

I joined yodatech 2-3 months ago when I picked up a 84 4runner.it's in pretty decent shape for being here in Nebraska, no rot just a little rust here and there. Its a little bit of a project. Nothing major just some electrical and mechanical issues.

One of many previous owners had done there little trick hack jobs to the electrical and the smog equipment. It has a remanufactured head and new timing chain, cover and water pump. Also has a 38 Weber that was all out of wack. Someone yanked out all the vacuum lines and assumed that now it's "de smogged". The Weber adapter plate was leaking horribly even with what appears to be a whole tube of rvt gasket sealer. The dizzy didn't work properly, corroded and gumed up. I sure not having a oil dipstick didn't help. The shaft that the rotor slides over was almost rounded off.

Pretty much learning as I go.
Here is what I have done...
New LCE spiral adapter
Egr block off plates, the one for the manifold I put on a barb fitting for the pcv value
Manifold plugs
New dizzy from LCE, ouch!!
94amp GM alternator and bracket
GM style ignition
Now the little Yoda is running better, smoother and stronger!!

Still need to adjust timing a little. It's right at 4 btdc with the vacuum disconnected and pluged. Will adjust the carb as I go. All in all its been a fun little project.

I just want to say thank you yodatechers!!! Each and everyone of you. I searched posts old and new and I can't remember all the names but you all helped in one way or another.

Thanks!!

Glad to see the site help you get another yota back into shape and on the road. Will be looking forward to seeing some pictures of it. Not many 84s out there.

The cluttered engine bay when I started

What i started with

No more clutter. Pretty basic

A/c and smog parts removed

Notice the little black box on the frint cross bar above the bucket. Its a hide a key bix with the original key.itsa little wore out.

So this is where I'm at with this runner. Ist actually kinda fun.

I'd say your engine and engine compartment look darned good. You 'oughta see the grime on the (early) '84 I just picked up. I also see some nice things on your very clean engine like a nice breather on the valve cover, and a pressure (?) gauge in your fuel line.

Just keep at it and have fun!

Cheers,
