Swapped the old rear bumper.

Well, I finally broke down and swapped out the old bumper to a slightly straighter one...

Here's the old one:

Here's the new one:

The D-ring (clevis) mounts were welded both sides of the bumper and we also made them long enough to run down the bumper mount arms and they are welded along that as well. We kept it simple with some channel for the bumper and we reinforced behind it with a piece of rectangular that also helps supports the hitch mount. Added a little (6 coats) bit of Rustoleum Textured paint to give it a nice, tough, non-skid surface. You can't see it in the pictures here, but we did have to raise the license plate mounting holes to make sure the plate would be visible and not covered by the bumper. We decided not to go with the receiver style hitch mount on this one because of the way we reinforced things behind the bumper. If I have time tomorrow, I'll get pics of the reinforcements when I wire up the trailer lights.

It's not real fancy, but I like it much better than the old one at the top of the pics. Just thought I would share this with everyone.

Yeah, the old one was pretty low. The original owner's son literally pulled the original tube bumper off and and added the old junk yard one after he attempted to pull another car around a field. Of course he tried it with the old junk yard one too and that obviously didn't work either. I don't plan to go play tug of war with anything, however, I'm not too worried about this one being bent or pulled off now if I was to get stuck or if I help someone who may be stuck.
