Steering knuckle arm removal help

I'm dropping the front axle assembly in my 85 4runner and having trouble unhooking the steering knuckle arm ball socket/drag link connection. The manual says to remove the cotter pin and remove the plug. From what I am seeing the plug is where the cotter pin sat .Is this correct ? How do you remove it?

Pull the cotter pin out of the slot in the plug. Use a giant screwdriver in the slot and unscrew the plug all the way. Do not loose the internals when you remove the plug. Once the plug and internals on the plug side are removed then you will be able to remove the draglink from the steering knuckle.
