Starting problems

Hey guys I'm new to this forum but I'm in need of some help. I have a 1986 pickup but it's been converted back to carbureted for some reason. I bought it this way. The problem I'm having is it won't start ! It ran great a year ago then it just died one day. I changed the fuel pump, new coil and ignition control that sits underneath the coil, had the carb all apart everything looks good but I've never had anything to do with the weber 38dgms carb. I've set it to the right specs but it just won't fire. It wants to go but just won't anybody have any suggestions any help would be greatly appreciated

Rebuild the carburetor. You probably have a clogged inlet. Try putting some fuel down the jet and turning the engine. Change your fuel filter blow out the lines etc

start with the basics, check if you have spark take out number one spark plug and have it connected and ground it and have someone crank it and see if it has spark, check if your getting fuel from the tank disconnect the inlet hose going to the carb see if fuel is spitting out strongly, and next check if the timing is right. will it not start completely or does it sputter wanting to start.

like ojm3 said check your ignition, make sure the plugs are connected all the way , and if its not your timing or ignition you should do a compression test.
