Should I trade my 84 for 89?

I have an 84 4runner.. solid front, carbed..

the bad about mine.. rolled it and I have a dent in the pass side door sill and little on the rear in front of the gas fill.

I don't crawl.. but I do run the truck off road through the desert while camping to get from place to place. and we sleep in the back.

Should I make the trade for a buddies 89 4runner, both are mostly stock just a little lift.

seems like a no brainer..

depends

I think you would be happier fixing yours back to the "before roll" status. I guess you are looking at the whether or not you want SFA or IFS, a carb'd 4 or a 22re or 3.0(you didn't say), maybe more creature comforts( by 89 you could get a few more options than in 84.

I think your friend knows that he's getting a better deal, but it depends on what's important to you.

Agreed, keep the 84. These are impossible to find and much more valuable too! I just found one. It took 3 months to even find one for sale within a 7 hour radius and that includes searching ebay, craigs, and autotrader everyday(craigs several times a day).

KEEP IT

the only thing I really want is the 22re EFI and no body damage..
the 22re for the better gas and power..

we are not trading, I am going to help him fix a head gasket, and then sell it. We were going to split the money made for selling the 89.

if you're that set, convert it to 22re or just put a completely different motor in it. The 84 is worth much more from what i've seen.

Hell no! The solid front axel is work fixing the truck. I have guys come up and ask me to sell my truck on the average of 1 a month. I politely say NO!

If you want the 84 durability keep the SFA and put it on the 89.
