Rough idle and black plugs 84 4x4 SR5

My 84 truck sat for about a year and a half. Does not idle smooth like it always did. Some people think the carb is gummed up from old gas and sitting too long. Should I start with a carb cleaning/ rebuild? Anyone in Southern California that knows these models and does good work? Only has 140k on it. All by me,, I am original owner all 31 years and has been garaged from day 1. All stock . Love my truck would like it to run smooth again. New here on this forum but was told by someone at Toyotafest in Long Beach that this is the place to get help. Thanks all!

If the plugs are black (sooty?) and it runs rough it's a good bet it's running rich. Check your idle enrichment adjustments, choke settings and float settings to start.
