Ok, I searched and couldn't find it.....

I'm adjusting the valve clearance on my '85 22RE for the first time, and all the instructions and write-ups say to check for the 1st cylinder to be loose and the 4th to be tight.... but none ID which cylinder is which. This is my first time doing this if you cant tell. Is the 1st cylinder closest to the fan or the firewall?
