Camo method. Cone washers gave ma a little trouble but got it.

Do these look like 30 splines longfields?
They don't neck down as far as I can see.
How many brands could it be?

No markings on the bell or shaft at all, like on the flat spots of the bell? Thats where is would say a brand. Can you pop it off and count the splines on the inner shaft?

I didn't see any markings except for some possible worn off markings on the flat part of the bell. But I am not sure that's what these smaller black marks were. The Longfield marks look large. I will post more pics in a few hours.
It does look coated on the inner axle.

As far as taking the inner axle/birf apart, I don't know how. I saw on YouTube how a guy dropped it hard in a straight up pipe. I didn't want to do that. I was hoping it was enough to see it wasn't necked down at the birf.
And today some chromoly Longfields will get here, only as spares. So I don't have to be afraid to spin my wheels within reason. I will have backups. As far as I know, what is in there could be stronger than chromoly. But I don't know. I would like to know without pulling that birf/inner axle apart.

looks like a TG shaft to me judging only on the inner axle seal surface, looks to be 30 spline because it does not neck down.

Gotta slam those things to get them apart. Rough, but it is the way. A bench vise works, or a piece of pipe..

Heres a good shaft comparison when I had stuff apart. https://irate4x4.com/threads/30-spli...80/post-445568

OG bobbylong on top, TG long in the middle, Stock on the bottom.

Is there a grease zerk on the end of the birf?

Other brands if not Longfield or TG/long would be RCV (parts are usually black) or EMPI

Good info! Thank you

There is not a grease zerk on the end of the birf. Instead, there is a threaded hole for a m8 x 1.25 bolt. I tried to put a m8 x1 threaded zerk in but didn't work.

Also, both shafts width are 1.25", according to my plastic Harbor Freight calipers. That is closer to stock width in the comparison pics, but it is obviously not necked down. So, it must be the TG axle, middle of the road.

I will take more pics even though I tried to pack it full of red hi temp grease with my hand.

Also, that inner shaft is coated.

I think you are right that it's TG.

So, I am putting it back together. And I got the axle in this far before it sounds like hitting something solid. I have turned the pinion some. It didn't come out hard.

Is there a trick to this?

Got TG Longfield spares and they through in some TG hub stuff. They have a sale on the chromo axles right now online, about 250 off, if I remember correctly.

I also put together a bag full of the tools to change an axle to carry.

And finished it all up!!! Woohoo!!
Thanks for the help.
