Who did you buy the vinyl flooring from and how is the fit?
i can’t decide between carpet or vinyl for mine.
My truck had the SAME Grateful Dead sticker on the glovebox too!!
Had.

The vynal matting is from Rock Auto but for 1984 . The fit is spot on although I didn't have any of the old carpet for a template so I had a heck of a time with the front section. I'm really impressed with it. I just wish it was a little softer. I like carpet too but with all the leaks I'm still paranoid and the windshield still has issues so it's good for that. I have vylnal in my FJ and it makes cleaning so easy. I had it in my 90 Toyota pick up and always wished for carpet 😂

Great work! As soon as my springs are on I need to pull the top to inspect my seal. Not sure if it just came unglued or is deteriorating. I figure December and snowing is a perfect time to pull the top. Kinda wish I had a swing set now. Going to rig up something in my "carport" for that.
How much do those tops weigh?

I favor vinyl, too, because it is utilitarian. A small foxtail brush, and simple spray and wipe would easily clean it.
Then removable carpeted mat would absorb moisture from footwear and keep things from getting soggy.

I got ACC branded vinyl from ebay for my '85 PU--don't do that!!! It was no good. I kept leaving it in the sun waiting for it to soften up to fit it, just didn't seem to want to fit. Finally ordered the genuine article from ACC (www.accmats.com), night and day difference. So beware of carpet / vinyl kits on ebay. It seems likely ebay sellers have access to factory seconds, and sell them as the genuine article.

good to know, e bay is hit or miss like Amazon. I did get some decent door seals on e bay for the 4runner tho. Not as good as original but good.

That looks like fun! I miss running those snowy CT backroads in my old ‘84 4runner.
After all the bodywork and paint on my current one, it has to stay in the garage when there is salt on the roads.

can't blame you on putting it away for the winter! I Wasn't planning on running it much in the snow this year but I'm not really done with everything yet . I origanly planned on using it for a complete year as a daily but recently I transferred at work to a building only 1/4 mile away from my house so I walk most of the time. I was also planning on tearing the engine down. Usually there's still some time in December but this year I don't know. I don't want a dead truck in the drive way with all this snow. I still need to address that windshield frame also. That's gunna have to wait on better weather too. Hopefully next year will be it's year in the snow. the thing is tank in the snow, no surprise there!

The other nice part about the garage is I can work on it at night too. I would love to get some kind of a heater but there is no cealing.
anyhow I've got the intake and exhaust manifold off. No bolts gave me any issues . Even though this came from the coast of Massachusetts nothing is ever rusted on. The head is off too and all them hoses, electrical plugs , fuel lines and vacuum lines. Oh boy hope I get it all back right. I left most vacuum lines attached to stuff when possible labeled what couldn't and same with plugs. Good thing I got into this the fuel injector seals are toast.
I also replaced the fuel filter at this point . No problems with everything out.

I had to put a car out on the porch to make room for the 4runner. You should have seen the ramps I had to make to drive up there , lol. No I just removed a post and took some of the walls apart then rebuilt it. Good luck to anybody trying to get it out now. It's snowed in besides having to dismantle the wall now.

Are you doing a valve job or pulling the engine for rebuild?
