well went out and had another fun trip up boulder creek. here are some pics:

here me trying to climb a slick muddy rock ledge, denied us all.

here is my buddy driving back down this creek bed we went a couple miles up to explore.

the whole montley crew in the main river valley

only problem with being so wide, every one wants to park on you....andf my fenders are finally done if you cant tell....

me trying a line on the way out, actually parked right there and then got back in and pulled through. dented the bed a little but rubbing is racing right? also finally snapped two of the bolts off on the ty built bumper so i might have to do something with that here shortly...

the 4.3 does really well at the low RPMS. mine is still a TBI and does not like super high rpm but it has the grunt i need so it barely ever see's high rpm's. i think a double is next though cause i am tired of being just a little high in gearing to crawl through the rocky sections and i already have the second case sitting in my garage.

I am just having some motivational issues to change anything on it now that i am thinking a first gen 4runner with the one tons and 42's and a tundra 4.7L v-8....

thanks, too bad it will be short lived. the wife is pregnant so i ahve started planning to build something with a back seat, i am thinking 1st gen 4runner with 2uz 4.7l auto dual cases coiled and linked front and these axles and tires. we will see if i can really fund it though. i also have an 89 extra cab getting a mercedes diesel hopefully this winter so we will see.

super cool mod idea!
you could take the extended cab back half, and extend your extended cab! for an extended extended cab

yeah i thought about that, even photoshoped it a couple pages back. i was going to do that up until the beating my truck has taken lately with alot of dents from me pushing it to see how far it will go, now it needs too much body work to really be strait enough for me to keep upgrading. i kind of want a fresh canvas to start with again so i can correct the mistakes i hae made in building this one and make it better.

there i corrected that for you...lol

up here alot of the old toyota stuff is really hard to find cause it has all been driven hard and put away wet. i found three 87-89 runners for 1500 bucks or one 88 toyota ex cab for 2 grand, it shows up here at least how much more the trucks are saught after than the runners.

also i am thinking coil over front would be a fun thing to learn so it would be easier to start with a new frame than cut that front hanger off, i welded the whole length front and back!

thanks, man. it has definatley been a ride building this thing outside in the cold but wheeling it the last couple weeks has made it all worth it! i am liquidating some projects and selling my dirt bike and boat and some stuff to be able to put some more money into the next build. i really am thinking about ordering FOA coilovers and i have a line on a tundra 4.7 just need to find a tranny and a computer for it and that will definately be a good canidate for a first gen runner!

went out hunting last weekend got some more great view pics for you. weather was not as nice and not many action shots cause we were glassing for moose but you get the idea. not a great hunt but a great wheeling trip, wheeled 80 miles on trail and about 30 off trail, blazing our own to get back t0o our hunting grounds. spent about 26 hours driving in a weekend! was tiring but fin. got to go back up during normal season to hopefully get my moose.

Man, Alaska is inexplicably beautiful. And I have only seen pics, I could only imagine. Thanks for the thread man. I made the mistake of showing my wife the pic of the thermometer you put up and that may have killed any aspirations of moving the family up there.

As for working outside I'm with you on that, except I am outside laying in a dirt drive way and instead of freezing I am sweating. But man it sure does make you appreciate the yoda when she's running right.

Seriously man, great thread.

Thanks man. Yeah the winters suck but the summer more than makes up for it and if you hunt at all this is Mecca haha.
I would rather have the heat but hopefully I will get the house we made an offer on and will have a garage this winter so hopefully my progress will increase. I have some big plans for a new build now that I need a third seat.

thanks, and if you start seeing more progress here shortly you will know we got the house...haha

my only problem with alaska is family being so far away. you know what they get for a plane ticket from anchorage to spokane lately? i mean i can fly to hawii cheaper! it is actually cheaper for me to drive 1500 miles through canada if you have the time! complete BS if you ask me!

i am hoping to road trip with the turtle in tow next year to go wheel with my dad and brother in spokane and then maybe go do funny rocks and rubicon also while i am at it. but that is just my dream we will see what the baby has to say.....
