Thanks, actually i made that in about two hours when i got bored one weekend and bought a winch. it is a piece of 2x6 structual c channel that i notched and bent then cut the bottom corners off and made a winch box from some 1/4" plate.

I also took some 1/4" thick2" strap and reinforced the front crossmember on all sides then made my own mounting holes cause i thought the stock holes were not enough for winching.

All work was done with a sawzall, drill, grinder and 80 amp intercore welder.

I have since repainted it and am adding some top plates to make a deck on it and am going to add a cross bar to add some grill protection and light mounting points without restricting air movement.

thanks!! the motor swap was going to be a all winter project but that was rushed by blowing up the old motor and i really want to snow wheel!!!

next winter if i actually get my own garage i am planning on graphing on an extra extended cab and building a flatbed and putting taco seat in the back and some new front buckets.

I am also saving for longs and 5.29's so it will keep evolving!!!

some where down the road i see AG tires in it's future but prob wont be for a couple years cause i got to wait for the tsl's i got to wear out and they are brand new!!!

Stay tuned!!!

Looks like fun. I almost have all the parts I need for my install of a Buick 231 in my 85 4runner. What exhaust are you going to use?

I actuallgot some random stock manifolds, dont know what year theyare from, and cut and moved the outlets to where i needed them and then am building a 2" exhaust to cross over to the y pipe right behind the transfer case. i thought tha would be cleaned than by th flywheen and drive shaft.

Still stock G tranny? Looks like custom bell housing. If so, aren't you worried about grenading that thing with triple the HP and torque? That motor looks really cool in there though. Like it was meant to be, eh?

yeah it is the stock G tranny and i got the chevy adapter from AA cause it has the buick bolt pattern also.

as for grenading it i am not too concerned about grenading it cause most t year we have snow and the other part is lick snotty mud and swamps so i wil never get the rock grip like alot of the rock crawlers do and grenade things. and it is the same adapter for the w series trannies so i can upgrade to that if/when it does break. fr a comparison i hav a friend with a 351 winsor and 35/4.10 combo and he has not ha any problem with his w series. i know my g is weaker than the w but his 351 has alot more power than my buick, also i am a very cautious driver and am good at staying away from the skinmny pedal. i mean if i can make it wheel with a wrn 22r and 39.5's/4.10's and do good i am nt really relying on HP, and for a matter of a fac i blew the motor on the highway getting to the trai and not on the trail!!

i have conciered the possibility, andhave back up plans.

Makes sense! Sounds like you drive pretty conservatively like me. My buddy's are always instilling soo much fear into because the G tranny I have. I believe the G is rated at 130hp and the W's at 150hp. Not too big of a difference in strength. I hope for the best, and regardless, you did a hell of a job. I await your thoughts and reviews.

thanks man. i actually got to drive her for like 50 ft yesturday cuase the clutch wasnt ajusted right but i did get to get into the throttle a little and i broke both tires loose without using the clutch on wet pavement!! dosent sound like much but with 4.10's and 39.5" tires that is alot better than the old 22r! i cant wait to get her dialed in and on the trail!! i will tryand get some video on here when i take her out!

well you will hate me but i will tell you:

motor: Free if i pulled it, with only 4000 miles on it!!!

Coversion kit from AA: 400ish with free fj-60 slave from a friend

Clutch from 3.4 taco with pressure plate: 95 bucks from a friend

HEI distributor: 45 bucks, ebay

Electric fan: 50 bucks from friend

Custom exhaust: 30 bucks in bend and some time by me. free 2" pipe and muffler from frends chevy.

GM P/S pump: free from friend and used chevy lines with toyota thread added to line.

there are little things i know i am forgetting but 590 as a total so far is still cheaper than the way i wanted to build my 22r back up.

nope no body li it has alot of room! so i got 6" of lift and the axle is moved forward 3.5" so i didn't have to worry about the oil pan either, if it was stock it would be alot closer down there.

I'm not a fan of bastardizing these vehicles, but that Buick looks good in there. Great work!
