so a little more done.

i was lazy when i first axle swapped and never put bumps or proper shocks in so now i am going back to add good shocks and bump stops to protect my oil pan.

sorry for the cell phone pics but that is all i got besides the really nice camera i dont like to take into the garage.

some posers:

dont be mislead by the sun it was -15 when these two pics were taken!

lousy pics, and yes i already fliped the shocks over, but i set the bump stops to 2-3/4" from ride height to protect my oil pan incase both sides bump then set the shocks with 4-1/2" of shock travel up for articulation letting me go about 30 degrees. here are the test shots.....looks good except i have to lower the passenger side about an inch.

got 36" to the unloaded bottom of the tire and 42" to bottom of the fork so i am happy enough with it. should do a little better when i get the weight of the tool box and spare tire and beer in the back again.

this truck has went through some radical changes. it gives me some awesome ideas on my 84. ive got some great parts for mine with the custom lift and everything. the guy that built the lift i have built his trucks in the 80's for show use only. and he says the springs wont flex good at all. and he said he used chevy springs. how could i get my truck to flew enough for the trails?

Thanks Robbie. I wil get some pics with the guns next time we go out shooting.

How to make your truck work is kind of a loaded question without knowing the exact springs and setup. Post a link to your build thread if you made one yet with some specs and pics and I will give you any advice I can.

ok thanks man. right now im tryin to get the truck on the road with the small 235s i have on it now jus so i can get the bugs worked out and have something economical at the moment. i still have to get shocks draglink wheels and tires to run the lift. but ill take some pics of the springs shackles etc. their still mounted to the axles that was under the four runner i got them from. ill have to take pics of them bc i only have pics of what ive done so far bc its a project for school.

Thanks guys. I keep telling myself the one positive about the fire is I am getting all new tools and should have a spotlessly clean garage when I get back into it. And they have to replace all the toyota parts I have acquired over the years with new ones so it is going to be like Christmas once that check comes in!

And little ashlin will have a brand new house to come home to!

Ryan that sucks about the house. But you've got a wife who puts up with you and a georgous baby girl, money can replace the rest man. Congrats on the little one.

Here's a question...How long does it take to read 9 pages of this thread?
Here's a answer...2 hours.
But well worth it...

This is like my dream truck haha.
I hate that you lost everything in the fire, But that stuff is nothing compared to a daughter.

Ill be watching the build, you look like you know what the hell your doing. Haha.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys for the support. I am truly blessed with a great family and lots of friends that have helped me.

As for the build I am thinkig of pulling the motor for a rebuild cause I shoved it in last them without rebuilding it so it is pretty tired and I think I lost a lifter.

I also just bought a tube bender before the fire I never got to try out yet so hopefully I can get that setup and practice on this one before I dive into the next build.

I am still debating on yearly this apart and using the parts or selling it whole and starting over. Too many decisions.

well no big updates right now except that this truck is most likely getting sold.

i got a 500 dollar 96 taco ex cab with a 3.4 and 5 speed that will prob be the next victim.

having the rear seat has really motivated me to build something i can fit the baby in when she is old enough to wheel.

this time i am planning fj-60 axles and 38ish tires for the taco to make it still streetable enough to not have to trailer everywhere.

biggest thing holding back the new build is i got to sell this one first.

you guys think 6500 is a fair price? i really dont know what to ask for this beast, i just know that is about what the major parts cost to replace, and what it will cost roughly to build the tacoma like i want.

oh and on a side note, i think the little one has been watching me search pirate too much:

I am in sooooo much trouble when she gets older.....hahaha
