New guy, 90 2 door Runner

First post here. I picked up this 90 2door the other day. It’s a Canadian import. 3.0 with a 5spd. Engine runs smooth, interior is in pretty good shape except for the drivers seat. Kids and the dog are quite happy. Wife’s not exactly a fan but she approved of the purchase. It has some rust, rear wheel wells, little in the tailgate and some little spots here and there. Some but not much on the underside. My Father in Law builds hot rods so he’s gonna teach me the art of body work. Otherwise maybe a 2inch lift and 31’s eventually. For now I need to to the CV’s and exhaust. It has some new 29inch BFG KM2’s on it, should see how it handles in the snow on Friday.

For the exhaust is there any any reason to buy one of the 2.5 Cat Back systems? Would I be better off just having a new muffler and pipes put on. Everything from the cat forward is fine.

Thanks, it’s nice to have toy again. I’ve had a 85 and 87 4Runner years before.
