New to the Forum scene... 1985 4runner SR5

New to the site, been looking around for a bit but thought I should say hey.

Got plans for my 4runner thanks to this large community.
Bought my 63'' chevy springs. Thanks to Special Scotties RUF post.
Got a rock defense rear bumper...
Looking to do a snorkel if I can find a cheap one somewhere.. NOT PAYING 390 for one! lol
Thinking about getting a set of trail gear front leaf springs, since my oem are flexed the other direction...
Thought about making a front drive shaft when I do the lift.....
Please give me more ideas! I know you guys are crazy on here and have the best suggestions.

Anyways, got to figure out a way to get smaller pictures so I can up load some of this stuff.
Glad to be a part of the forum!

wtf? he didnt even ask a question dude. he was introducing himself and telling his future plans for the truck/making himself open for suggestions, and if you actually read it you would see he did search and found out about the chevy springs through special scottie. My suggestion to the original poster is to create a photobucket account. its free and you upload your pictures to it then copy and paste the [img] code onto your post and it will post your pictures in it. thats what about everyone on here does.

CBR600Rx7- planning on running tires, but going to be reasonable.. 31's ish. Still need gears? Thanks for the input though, I thought my 22re had enough beef as it was? Ill consider it a possibility.

SebastianHolmes- Thanks bro, looking forward to getting some progress pics up soon. When I do the RUF Ill try to do like special scottie did. Take a ton of pics, try and be as resourceful as pirate4x4. Took the photobucket advice and got some pics up.

With 31s you should be fine as long as your motor is strong and healthy. Most guys recommend going to 4.88s if your going to run 33s and up but its not a must.

i love your 4runner, especially with the soft top. In my opinion if you are gonna do chevy springs and rears up front then youre gonna want to run a bugger tire than 31's. itll be tall with small tires on it. if thats what you like then go for it, its just not my cup of tea so to speak. that lift would look good on some 33's or 35's but im not sure if you wanna go that big. you could get away with no gears and 33's, it would pretty much suck though. 35's and youve basically gotta have them. i say if youre gonna spend the money and do gears then just go to 5.29's. if you dont then youll end up wanting to down the road and spend the money twice.

i just read your pic posting writeup and its not so correct. instead of using the direct link and doing all that just copy the [img] code and paste it into the reply box. much simpler IMO. sorry to go off topic.

Thanks for doing that for me 87hillbillyoter..
Ill get the hang of this forum stuff eventually.

You think 31's will be to small? I haven't done the lift yet, so I have no idea what that will look like. I did a 4'' on my xterra before I got the tires and it looked TERRIBLE. don't want the same feeling with the yota.

When I bought the truck it had a big trash bag in the back of it, turned out to have all the parts minus one screw for the soft top! I really like it, but has anybody used it on a trail? I would think that the trees would eat it up. Videos, Pics, and posts I don't see a whole ton of people riding the trails with the soft top.

hope that worked

No question 31's will look too small if you are lifted at all.

Why? You are replacing your rear springs with Chevy's, so do the RUF instead. 62" Chevy rears with stock rear springs up front is a great combination. Relocate the front axle 1.5" forward to clear 33x10.50's. Run it that way with your stock gears and see how you like it. Then when you decide you want lockers you can regear at the same time.

But the soft top can be rolled up or taken down in a matter of minutes if the brush is looking to violent. (weather permiting). Hears some pics of my 84 runner with 4 inch lift on 33x12.5 r15s tsl swampers just to give you some ideas.

ruff country front springs blocks out back

how she sits now with 4 inch allpros and 63s out back.

Are those chevy lift springs?
Even without my bike on the back mine seems to sit much lower and I believe I have longer shackles
