Is the 4 runner fuel injected or carbed? I can look up the part# on my Toyota microfiche films and let you know.

I had no luck finding a new vacuum advance unit at any of the local auto parts stores, so i went to the dealer and ordered a new one, it cost me 203.45 and i will have it in two days. (DAMN EXPENSIVE PART)

I got the new vacuum advance installed today, and it made a noticable difference. Now i need to get the idle down a little, i have turned the idle screw on the carb all the way out but its still a little to high. I think the previous owner advanced the timing to compinsate for the bad vacuum advance, so i will try adjusting the timing next.

I think my vacuum advance diaphragm may be bad, but the previous owner advance the timing. Currently I'm having an issue with it idling. It will idle low but its rough and will die when I come to stop lights at times. When I have it idling high it runs pretty good. Could this be a vacuum advance problem?

Put a piece of vacuum hose on each vacuum port one at a time and suck on the hose, if its good you will feel the vacuum holding, if you suck in the hose and feel no vacuum being created then the vacuum advance is bad.
