Midland CB into an 84 4runner

Midland CB into an 84 4runner
I thought I would post a picture of the final product. This was the reason for the questions the other day about different wires. Man, what a rat's nest for the stereo and speakers.
I finally made sense of everything, cleaned it up, made some notes for future reference, and managed to get the cig lighter light working. All of this is in prep for our trip to Moab, leaving on Saturday.
I was going to do a quick install with the CB, but after all of the wiring, I decided to make it pretty. It's not the best, and this was not my first choice of setup, but it's the one that worked.
First, the truck:

and the CB

from the driver's side:

Notes on the install;
I tapped into the cig lighter for power since it's fused already and used the negative from that wire harness as well. Not sure if that will hurt the transmission quality.
This model will bottom out into the relays by the firewall if it's mounted toward the driver side. It's the CB antenna cable that hits. I bought a 90 degree adapter, and it still bottomed out. I then went to mount it with the CB on top, but I didn't like the look of that, and the radio was harder to get to. I opted to shift it over, where there is more room at the back. It barely fit.
The stereo bracket fit into the midland's existing mounting holes. I lucked out there. I cut the old pocket down to size, and luckily, it still worked even when I shifted it to the other side and had to flip it.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the outcome with others.

Thanks. I have been dormant on here for awhile, and the truck has taken the back seat over the last year to my Tacoma and my 85 Supra. Sad, I know.
I bought the same CB, Midland 1001wlx for my Tacoma and I liked it. Out of the box, on my Tacoma, I had great reception and transmission, so I bought another one for the 4runner. I shopped around, and went with an open box/refurb on amazon. I think I paid around $45 shipped for it.
I don't have anything else pulling off of the lighter, so I think I will be good. I have a large (small gauge) fused lead to the blank 80 amp slot in the fuse box that I am going to run some additional 12 volt outlets for.
The bumper is a TJM that Krawltex added the hoops to. The fabricator has moved to Las Vegas and is now doing work as Nefarious Kustoms (customs) and is designing and fabbing bars for Jeeps at the moment.
As a bonus, my stereo sounds 40 % better than it did before. The previous owner just did a cut and splice to remove his amps and speakers and I think some of the spliced connections were bad. I was amazed at the difference in sound.
Time to put on the soft top! 40 hours to go!
