Little help with the drum brake removal 84 4runner
I go a little frustrated with my rear brakes this weekend. I got all setup to remove the drums, popped open the little access cover to adjust the tensioner. Ran the adjuster all the way down, but the drum did not release. It only budged a little bit with the help of a screwdriver.
Anyone have any hints to get the drums removed?
When I changed the brakes on the front I noticed the boots on the cylinders had become unattached. There was alot of rust powder inside which I am assuming came from the rotor. I figure these would die sometime soon which has has me pondering whether or not to buy the v6 sized calipers or the OEM replacements. They say you may need backspacing on some application for the V6 sized. I am running the original rims right now. Would I need the backspacing?
Any hint on seperating the wheel hub from the rotors would be swell also.
Would banging out the wheel studs first help?

As far as the drums go, look for the threaded holes in the drums by the lugs. I'm not sure of the metric size, but I remember the last time I did it I just pulled a bolt off the truck from somewhere and used it. I might have used one of the air injection block plate bolts.
Run the bolt into the hole(s) and it will drive the drum off.
