Inclinometer for 1st gen 4runner

I'm new to the 4runner scene and have a sale pending an 85 out of state, therefore I have not seen it up close yet. I noticed from the pics that it does not have the factory inclinometer -- looks like it never had one.

I plan to add one. So my questions are:

1) Are there clear lines (indentations, etc.) for where it should be installed?

2) Would the truck be pre-wired for the inclinometer?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Should be pre-wired. There aren't any indents in the dash pad for it. Trucks that came factory with them have a bracket secured to the dash pad itself.

would probably be easier to get a custom inclinometer (from autometer or the like), and custom location for it.... rather than trying to cut the dash up, etc... just my opinion... but if you are going for that clean factory look, then good luck!

No,

The dash will have indents underneath where you can position your drill and drill 4 small holes to mount the inclinometer. The wiring is already there, you just need to connect 1 connector.

Simple as that.

^^^ This..

minus the drill part. If your dash is brittle like most from this year, the drill could make your day a little more diffucult. When I did mine, I used a hobby knife (razor blade) from the back side and just cut out on the inside of the metal mounting bracket holes.

Just my .02

yeah it's just a wire for the lighting - the inclinometer doesn't require power to function.

Make sure you get the brackets when you buy one....or you'll have to fab your own.
