Help needed swapping back end of fuel system
Hi fellas,
This is my first post on this forum -- I joined because I'm the original owner of an '85 SR5 ex cab std bed 22RE 4x4 that I'm starting to pull apart and slowly get running/restored. It's been sitting for years unstarted with fuel in it, and the tank, sender, and pump assemblies are all hosed -- I need replacements for the whole lot.
I'm having a horrible time IDing the right parts on the used market -- as most of you know, the fuel parts are uber VIN-specific. Does ANYONE make the correct aftermarket tank for US '85 RN66s? Anyone? And what's different about 2wD and 4xD fuel pump brackets of this vintage? I'm seeing both on the web for sale described as being the same length -- can't find any real difference between them but people tell me they are, but no one can tell me how they're different. And lastly, since I'm swapping it all out at the same time, is there another option I should consider involving a later year and easier to find collection of the three components that would work?
That's all I got for now for starters, but I'm sure I'll be back begging the experts soon enough. Thanks guys!
