Heater control trim

Heater control trim
1988 pickup that I have owned for 19 years. I cannot see the heater positions anymore. Once in a while I see a used one on ebay but it is not much better than mine, or is for a/c, or goes for a crazy price. Just saw a used one go for $68.
I mentioned this to Manjit - the guy who rebuilt my transmission. He also restores Toyotas. He said he could get me a new one and it was $26. Did not think this part was made anymore.
Now I can see what I am doing.

Here is the used ebay one that just sold for $67.76. This one is for a/c.

Think I should tell the buyer he can buy a new one for $30?.....
So you might be able to make a $37 profit per piece on ebay.
Think I'm going to tell Manjit to order me 10 more.

I love how everyone always assumes the dealer is *soo* expensive and refuses to be "ripped off" by the "stealership" when often, their pricing is reasonable and even BELOW aftermarket junk. Not to mention used stuff like this.
This poor sucker got taken for a ride lol. I'd bet $50 is was falsely bid to increase the price.

Ebay can be a strange place. Buyer for the $67 heater trim has been buying 1987 4Runner stuff.
Manjit rebuilt my transmission for $300 labor, plus $210 for the rebuild kit. All Japanese bearings and seals - Manjit will not put in Chinese stuff. I saw the kit before it was put in.
I had a very bad mainshaft bearing and the input shaft bearing was also bad. These 2 bearings are in the bottom left corner.
I asked Manjit for my old parts, as a joke, because I told him I was going to sell a "slightly used" rebuilt transmission kit on ebay.
That 1987 4Runner uses the same rebuild kit. Might contact the ebay buyer to see how his transmission is.....

I'm trying to track down one of these heater/ac control trim pieces like the one in your picture (with A/C). TRDparts4U.com wrote back that it is a discontinued part. Where can I find one of these new? Thanks!

Discontinued maybe. Still available? Absolutly. I just called a local dealer and can get them for $34, and just a day or two out. Want me to get you one? I would just UPS it to you.

Thanks for the offer, and I'll take you up on it. I don't know if there is a difference between those with A/C and those without. Mine does have A/C, but no clock. Let me know how you want to work out the payment for the item, shipping, etc.
I appreciate the help ... just purchased an 87 Custom Cab (Fiberglass Extra-Cab Added) Pickup and joined the forum. People here have been great!

The a/c version has different icons. Pic below is the a/c version.
The blanking plate is removed if you have the clock. I think the a/c cars also have a button in the lower left to push to turn the a/c on. There is another plate for the switch that can be removed.

Tool: The one you have pictured above is for 84-86. they changed the face design in 87, and added extra positions for the Bi-level control. Compare your above picture to the picture in your first post, and note the differences. The first pic you posted is the 87-88 style.
The only difference between AC and non-AC is the cutout, and the AC ones have "AC" imprinted just above the little square hole

Gerone - No problem - My description was most certainly lacking. Thanks for the response and clarification. Kevin
