Grease for knuckle/bearings etc...
#21
I've used the regular valvolene moly fortified grease on wheel bearings for years. and have not had any problems. I just used it on my knuckles and wheel bearings and everything seems to be good. What are the reasons for not using it on wheel bearings. It is what the FSM calls for. I will say that the wheel seal preload was way over fsm specs until I drove it around the block and warmed them up, then it was right on.

I'll be back out there tonight, hopefully. I need to pull the oil pan and put a new gasket on it. I've also got a few finishing touches on the whole hub/knuckle rebuild that's been going on for way too long.

Some stuff I like for things like the oil pan is called yamabond, get it at any yamaha dealer. most of the gasket surfaces in their engines are sealed with it, and they never leak. Gas and oil resistant. Clean both surfaces real well, apply a medium to light coat on both surfaces, and let sit for just a minute, then put it together to specs. stuff is great. It will also resists high temps, dont know how high though. The tube I have I have had for about 4 years.
