gas mileage?

Hey guys i recently started driving a truck i built, it has the original motor in it. I bought this truck because i thought it was going to be good on gas but i only got 140kms on 3/4 of a tank and i know thats not right. So i was just wondering what kind of gas mileage i should be getting and what could be the cause of the motor being a pig?

The milage you will get will depend on what season (assuming they put additives in your wintergas), driving conditions, warm up times etc. You should also put your precived milage in compareable terms with common units such as miles per gallon or KMPL or whatever. not KM per fraction of tank.

In a 22R or 22RE in the summer you should expect to be in the high teens or low 20's (MPG). In the winter with additives, warm ups, and 4 wheel driven engaged occasionally expect mid teens (MPG).

You need to actually work out your mileage on paper, you can't trust the gas gauge in these trucks once they're this old. Mine will tell me I've used the first half of a full tank to go 50 miles, and on paper it actually pulls about 19mpg consistently (or approximately 320 miles a tank)

Yeah, mine will be below empty after burning 12 gallons of a 17 gallon tank.
