well we didnt know if you meant room in the bed, cab, etc or what type of truck, etc...but now that I know that, yes you can fit one in your truck, it should be a direct bolt in if im not mistaken, but your truck is carberated and if you want to make it fuel injected like the 22re, then you need the computer, all the sensors, and maybe the guage cluster!!
There were some differences in the 22rs over the years, an I am not familiar with all of them, but I do think that this is a direct bolt in!!!

The longblock (block and head) itself will bolt in with few if any issues. May have an issue with the oil pan and pick-up tube if the new engine is from a 2wd so you would need to change those from your engine to the new engine if that's the case.
If you try to keep your carb'd setup you may run into some issues with the intake and exhaust manifolds being different (exhaust in particular)- there may be a stud or two that need relocated on the intake, you may not have all the water passages on the carb'd manifold that the efi cylinder head has and the exhaust ports are different on the heads so you'd need the newer exhaust manifold. You'd also need to pull the valve cover off the two engines and move the fuel pump eccentric from your engine to the new engine (take the thick washer out of the 22re first) and remove the fuel pump block-off plate from the 22re, and use your distributor.
If you're going to convert yours to the EFI, you'll need the harness, ecu and everything in between from the donor truck, or comparable.

a 1990 22re is not the same as a 1984 22r. they are similar: they share the same transmission bolt pattern, crankshaft and rods, and engine mounts. that does not make them the same.
already addressed that in my post above, as have other commented on it above
