Gas filled crank case in 300 miles! 22re

22re with 160k mi. Just did a tchain job with the engnbuider kit with cover, cleared out the pan. Oem headgasket.

Ive been trying to find a mistake in my top end rebuild that would cause this. What can cause a crankcase to take in 2 quarts or so of gasoline in about a tank or 2 of driving?

oil level rose from exactly 5 quarts to way over fill line (looks like 2 quarts worth)

The head had 4 valves bent and replaced without changing the guides springs or anything else. shop said the deck was straight.

I cracked the cold start injector time switch body, but it still tests right by the manual.

Compression tests within the specs on all 4

theres also a louder than usual, what sounds like valve noise I cant get to the bottom of despite MANY checks and different adjustments within reason (8 and 12, or 7 and 11)

No smoke, seems to run the same as before the breakdown, MPG is good enough maybe down a little.

I'm not positive but I think your truck has a vacuum operated fuel pressure regulator. I've seen the diaphragm leak and pull fuel in through the vacuum line directly into the intake, but most time the vehicle will run rough and emit black smoke. just a thought

Could be fuel injector(s) malfunction. Make sure they are all seated properly and not leaking. Check for functioning injectors by starting engine, then listening for "click" on each one with a stethoscope or hold a long screwdriver blade against the injector and place ear on screwdriver handle. I've seen an improperly seated injector fill crankcase with gasoline as you describe. Hope this helps.

Ok ill take a look, before I installed the fuel rail I pressure tested the system for leaks and hit each injector with 12 volts to make sure they worked. they all held the pressure. cold start injector worked and held the pressure also.

Was the wrong seating your talking about having to do with the injector body, or inner valve seating? the angle it sat in the intake side? Or the rotation, how the srteams are positioned. I put mine back with the plug receptacles facing the same ways. never removed injectors from the rail.

You may want to ask someone on here with more toyota experience or google the injector voltages. I know most european cars operate the injectors on a 5 volt, ground fired system. I hope you didn't cook your injectors with the full 12 volt test.
good luck !
