Fuel level sending unit?
this one is not working.
Where can I find/buy a new one?
or what options do I have? I can check my odometer and carry extra fuel.
1985 Toyota extended cab 4x4.

 

When I turn the key on the fuel tank reads full until it runs out of gas. When I unplug the sending unit from the wire harness near the tank and frame and turn the key on it reads empty. If I’m under it correctly I need a new or working sending unit to know how much fuel I have in the tank. The Toyota dealership says the sending unit for my truck is discontinued so where can I find one new or used or what is everyone else doing? I simply keep track of my fuel mileage and know what size fuel tank I have and mine is 65 liter or 17.2 gallons. I get around 26 mpg and watch the odometer then usually top off the tank after driving it around 200 miles.
