Found my white unicorn and 302 swap

(84 4runner 302 swap) I took my pickup in the wrong direction as bout as far as you could take it (IFS lift components and all) Got to the point where I was getting ready to do a solid swap and thought to my self I'd love to leave it and find something to start all over on. Looked high and low for the better part of a year and nothing. Got on craigslist digging for something else figured what the hell typed it in and holy crap there it was. 1984 4 runner sr5 running condition 90% of the electrical switches worked, 4wd works, not quite road ready but damn close.

don't paint it yet!! you'd me amazed what meguiar's ultimate compound and some wax will do to 27 year old paint..you'll only be out of $10 if you don't like it and maybe an hour or two...

Family cruiser probably... she is too straight to cut on... 3" store lift or RUF's and something to even it out in the back... mild 33's... gears... paint... Stinger... soft top

Took the top off and tuned her a tad... rode dirt roads all day today... plan on going through the motor this winter

Thats awesome. Def gonna wash her and see how she buffs out. But if you look close in the pick she has a rust hole above the door that I need to patch. She'll need some paint after the patch job

I live near Augusta. Never been to that park. I'm not a fan of mudding in my trucks... Lol. I love watching others do it though. I just hate the clean up part...

I've been to Durhamtown once with Cabot. And I got stuck. And I need lower gears to do the rocks. So for now I just ride the highways for job related travels... I'm in the process of finding a Runner for the wife now, since she wants a Merc TD swap Toy.

Now it just needs a 3rz and a W56. Or a Merc TD. That's my next project...

Baby steps I guess. I pulled all of the rust bandits off front 2 fenders were spotless. Back 2 not so much. Guess I'll trim em tomorrow. Then ive got a place in the Floor board to patch and some sheet metal work on both sides of the sun roof.

Got all the rear trim mounts off. Really considering a fuel cell and a bed mount for the spare.

Lookin' good! If you find a way to mount the tire in the back without it taking up all the cargo space let me know!

I Know right... I have to remind myself of what this build is going to be... supposed to be a family hauler nice and simple but I keep having these visions. and I cant stand seeing the tank and tire drag under this thing.

Best fender trim ive found that didn't involve a full out tub. Figured I'd post it here so I can find it again and work on doing my own rendition.

Looking great so far. Those fender trims look like they will work well. What size tires do you want to end up running?

Like to be able to fit 36's but the trimming is primarily for rust removal right now. And I think the way the black truck got trimmed out matched the front fender lines real well.
