Can someone check my work TPS adjust

Okay so Im trying to chase down a couple problems and am adjusting my tps first I will show you how im doing it then I will explain my results.

first this is how I have the meter set up

Then on the TPS I put the red one on the second terminal down and the black one on the bottom terminal. my ohm meter shows 1 . when im doing nothing and when I touch the terminals it goes too 0.00 following the 4crawler guide I should be like 600-800 with the throttle closed.

then Because I felt that was weird I kept the TPS unplugged and started my truck ran how it always does good but not awesome. Is my TPS like completely dead to the point its reading nothing? or am I missing something simple?

Change the scale of your meter to 2000 ohm. You're 20Mohm scale isn't letting you see numbers as small as 800 ohm.

Gotcha that did it not here's my problem
So I touch Vta-e2 with throttle closed and get .6 on the 200kscale so about 600 if I did my decimals right which is in the 200-800 range

Then I touch the same terminals but wot and get 4.5 abot 4,500 which again is in the 3.3k to 10k range

The stick.55mm feeler gauge in and touch idl and e2 the bottom two terminals Evans get no reading what do ever any ideas?

When I adjusted mine it was extremely sensitive. The difference between in and out of spec was a very gentle tap on the unit with the screwdriver handle to move it. It took me about half an hour to get it set.

When you say "doesn't read" do you mean open circuit or infinite ohms, or 0 ohms? I don't have the procedure infront of me, but I know that an open circuit reading is involved.

Maybe someone else who knows more about the subject can chime in.

No like nothing happens on the meter what so ever, I even loosened it and rotated and all terminals in the procedures check good except for Idl and e2 I get no reading at all

Did you ever figure out the problem?

I need to know if I'm doing mine correctly as well.

With my multimeter set at 2000 Ohm and the black (COM) wire connecting to E2 the whole time:

1. ETA-V2 @ throttle closed : 516

2. ETA-V2 @ throttle slowly opening from fully closed to fully locked open: 516 then gradually up to 1999 then to a number 1 all the way to the left, which I'm assuming is infinite.

3. IDL-E2 @ .508mm open : 017

4. IDL-E2 @ .813mm open : 030

What do you guys think?

TPS are very sensitive. However, I get better results by feel more than by the guage.

My tricks:

Get an OEM one first and formost. Toyotas seem to do weird things if there are differnt electronics in the system.

99% of the time, if your adjusted to dead center of the adjusting range your good. I.e, the screw should be in the exact center of the adjustment range. If your still having weird stuff happening with the idle, just barely tap on the TPS in either direction to set it. I put a black circle around the screw to know where it should be.

I hate trying to adjust the TPS with a multimeter. It's cumbersome and trying to adjust, read the meter and screw it down all at the same time. A tech at toyota a long time ago told me about just centering it in the adjuster and go from there. Never have had a problem since.
