NO! i didn't.....now we know how they did the burnout!! they just flipped the axle....and popped the clutch in 1st gear....

smart.

now about the sound....can marty's truck's sound be accomplished? if so...i'd love to know how and if anyone has done it. I agree that it sounds pretty sick.

I would think it would be much easier to lay some rubber in reverse. Hell I can roast a tire in reverse pretty easy.

sure...one.

i was thinking the same thing, my car seems just as spunky if not geared lower in reverse as in first..

but reverse, possibly, is a more fragile gear and isnt designed for full-throttle stuff...i dunno though.

i just said that because it was mentioned that his reverse lights didnt light when he did the burnout = not in reverse.

my reverse lights don't go on I think reverse is geared the same as 1st but since all the weight is unloading to the front and there is no engine or anything in the rear that the tire would spin really easy.
And his truck is an 85 so perhaps somthing is wrong with it?
And he is only spinning his left tire a little, there is no marks on the street when the shot pans out.

( I watched the dvd again and I can see a soild front axle so)

I did 180 burnouts in a crown vic I used to have, my dad bought for 50$ and I drove the piss out of it cause I hated the damn thing. My favorite thing was to slide the boat around a turn by my house and hit the turkeys. I know of an 84 Im going to try to pick up.

yeah, ever since i saw that movie as a kid i have always wanted a black toyota xcab 4x4. That is the main reason i bought my 89 4runner of my parents before they sold it off. I just love the lines and the front ends of the 84-88 PUs and 84-89 4runners.

First gear is actually lower geared than first... = easier to do burnouts.
The way the ring gear is designed, it is not designed to transfer torque going backwards nearly as well, so guys, dont go doing burnouts in reverse. esp with big tires. not that it's going to break easily, just that it will alot faster than in forward. thats why people use a high pinion front end when they can (low pinion is on the wrong side)....

And how about this:

VW Taro. Look closer - it's a 3rd gen Toyota pickup. What a heresy...

I received info from Warner that the trucks were all sold to the Afghanistani Government and were seized by the Taliban.

Actually though, that movie is the reason I:

became a guitarist

became a skater

have owned lots of Toyotas

Crazy.

i had a guy come to my house to buy a bumper from me in one of the trucks used in filming. he said that there were actually 3 different trucks. he bought it off a guy who bought it from Universal, he had paperwork he had to sign stating that it was used in the film and various waivers... not sure exactly why but i saw the paperwork, also michael J fox had signed the sun visor stating thanks to all the crew. it was pretty cool to see it but its was kinda beat....
