auto to stick swap

auto to stick swap

in the middle of a swap and just wondering.... do i need to change the computer also??

no you shouldnt. I just did this on my 1988 3.0 Auto. On the A340H on the passenger side of the transmission theres a big connector (7-8 wires) that has two larger wires. We had to cut them and splice them together. This makes the truck think it is always in neutral.

are you sure?? the hook ups are a little different... i have 2 plugs that came off the 84 and theirs like 5 that come off the 85... im guessing the ones from the 85 are... norm-power switch, OD switch, 4x4 indicator, not sure of the other ones... but the ones from the 84 dont connect to any of the ones on my 85... ill take some pics tomarrow to help show what i am talking about... hope somone can help

you shouldn't need the computer at all after the swap. You need to find the neutral safety switch and just by-pass it.
