Armrest/Cupholder Mod-anybody done this?
I was looking at the space between my seats and was missing the armrest out of my 1989 4runner.

I happen to notice the armrest in my Mom's Toyota Sienna...

I knew it had a quick release handle to detatch the whole thing so...

I have been wanting buckets in my 93 for a while, and just this afternoon I was brainstorming what to do with the space between... I think I will build this..... Have the sub up by the shifter, then have a more powerful ext CB speaker too... Yeah I know its a lame drawing....but I was bored, and have NO artistic ability
JL makes a 6" sub that only needs 20 in3, and 75W...and since I'm just going for fill I dont need more than that....

Its amazing how well that actually fits, looks really good too.

I only borrowed it to see if it would work. She would kick my a$$ if I tried to actually use it...
It is now back in her Toyota.
But I think I found out what I needed to know. It will work with a little modification, and I love the way it looks & functions.
I had it in backwards in the first few pics, then flipped it around. Either way it fits perfectly as it sits. The problem is the bottom mounting bracket with the quick release. It is too wide to fit between the seat brackets in the 4runner.
So hopefully I can find another one at the scap yard tomorrow.
The part #s are in the pics below:

Well I had one of the YT members who works at Toyota check on a price for a new one, even with a hell of a good discount, it's still over $500.00
So I will be hunting the scrap yards for one, no big rush, but I really liked it!
If anyone comes across a gray one soon & gets a price, PM me.

I have a Frankenconsole. I made it out of a 99 taco benchseat shifter surround with the expandable cup holder, the original console base, an upper console out of an 89 runner and the leather covered lid from a 98 limited runner console. You can see most of it in the pic. Note the cup holder
serendipitously, it all bolts together with very few mods needed.

Why not just make your own console!? I got tired of my old beat up console that had no cupholders and over two evenings and for $20 worth of wood and some scrap carpet made my own.

Plenty of storage, cupholders, and tall enough to rest my elbow on! There was a post on 4x4wire a while back where people posted lots of pics of their consoles, worth taking a look at.
