Any Ideas? Drivetrain vibration.
Maybe this belongs in noobytech if so I'm sorry.
I have recently rebuilt the top end of my 22re and she has run very strong sense the rebuild w/ new header and exhaust. But a couple days before I had to take her for a 600mi drive I noticed a vibration in the drivetrain while on the freeway. Only when going faster than 60mph, if I let off the accelerator the vibration stops, if I let the truck slow to just below 60 while on the accelerator it stops. It doesn't make a difference going up or down hill.
Its a steady vibration that is not too intense just concerning. Any ideas?
Thanks...!!!

Been home havin a few beers when I read this. Just went out and sure enough I was able to get a 1/4 turn or more on the 4 bolts to the rear diff. Can't test drive it till the morning but yoterr mentioned imbalance in D-shaft.? Can I just bear down on those bolts or does it need special aligning..?

You're lucky you caught this early, I just had mine drop off on me while I was driving down the road. I got it back up but now there is horrendous vibrations when I'm doing highway speeds. Well it's still there even when going slow but it's not to terrible. Yes I know I need to get it replaced because it's putting stress on my U-Joints and stuff but I flat out don't have the money. I'm just not driving it very much. If you have a grease gun around and the correct grease shoot some into the drive shaft and the U-Joints. Just some standard stuff to help keep things working like they should. On a side note I was talking to a friend and he said that if your U-Joints are starting to fail then they tend to cause vibrations like that so after you grease it up and stuff if you're still getting problems then I'd say try replacing them before you run out and get a whole new drive shaft. Just my two cents from a very noobie yota guy.

So I drove it this morning. It's not vibrating as bad but still has a bit of a tremble at highway speeds. I guess I'll be replacing my U joints when I get off work

Please let me know if that helps you out or not. I drove my truck for the first time today out of about a week almost, since I've greased up the U-Joints anyway. It helped out quite a bit. Still need to replace them, maybe even my whole drive shaft, but it did help a lot. When in doubt, bust the grease out. Hahaha.

Truck runs like brand new again. I would suggest doing them ASAP due to the vibration causing more damage to Tcase and Diff potentially. I tightened the spindles on bothe ends of the Dshaft a 1/4 turn :-/ But either way it was the best $32.03 I have spent in a long time. Only one was bad but I changed both..

I am confused as to what you actually did....

I have a vibration, more like an annoying buzzing or humming.

I am pretty sure my carrier(driveshaft support) bearing is junk, but my ujoints are nice and snug. Guess a one-piece shaft and new u-joints is what I will be doing soon. I think its a matter of safety, right? My wife will be cool with that.

I replaced the front and rear U-joints on my rear Driveshaft at a cost of $15 each. I would post pics and vids but I can only access yotatech on my cell..
