The coil is mounted on top of the igniter, just follow the coil wire (middle wire) on the distributor back to the coil.

There should be a green plug coming off the coil

It's a single wire w/ a single green plug. Just hook into that. It's really easy.

I found the wire coming out of the coil with the green plug. I spliced into that wire but the tach still won't work. The needle starts out straight down, then goes right to the 8 and rests there. When I rev the engine the needle goes counter clockwise from the 8 back up to the 4 or 5. Do I hvae something backwards?

I have a 85 runner that was converted to carb. I have an ignitor out of an 83 pickup and I am trying to use the stock SR5 tach. Does anyone know what wire to connect the ignitor wire to. I have checked the wiring diagram and traced what I thought to be the tach wire in the factory harness from the cluster to under the hood. It still does not work.
