85 longbed questions

someone local here has 1 for sale.its got the 4 cly and manual trans.milage unknown right now.he has had it for years and used it for a work truck up untill recently when he got something newer.its got one of those racks over the bed for holding ladders or whatever.i took a ride by it last nite(dont want to seem too interested) and its kinda rough.i can see some rust where the doorhandles are and the mirrors also.it seems to have a 3 in bodylift and at least 3 in springs all around.the bed is black and the cab is lt blue.he told me he once replaced the cab.its got new 33 in street tires on it(not mudders)he is older and not just a kid so im thinking he didnt take it offroad.someone told me the frame had a bad rust hole thru it but ill see this weekend.i am looking for a daily driver back and forth to work each day(about 30 miles each way)and something that gets better milage than the 502 in my daily driver now he 1st said he hasnt listed it yet anywhere but was gonna ask around 1500.after talking a bit he was all the way down to 500.i asked if it would pass insp and he said he had always"bought" a sticker for it and would do the same before i took it.
he claims that it has a reconstructed title because the vin doesnt match between the frame and cab.and that the vin matches the frame.
does this sound like something i should stay away from because of the title?
what should i look for when i go to test drive it this weekend?
im thinking of offering 400 to 450.
thanks so much

I drive my '88 30 miles each way to work right now since my nice car is in storage. Let me tell you I can't wait for it to get nice out so I can drive my car again. It's not so bad at first, but it gets to you after a while having to stay pinned in the slow lane and people zooming past you on the highway lol. I like my truck, I just don't like having to drive it every day. Mine rides like a hay wagon too. I feel every bump.

Frame rust is definitely an issue you need to be concerned with. Take a better look at it when you can. I really dont think the owner knows much about his truck....be a little weary
