85 Front Clip
im fixin to buy an 85 that got smacked in the front right.
is everything bolt-on up there or am i gonna have to weld.
basically the metal that is behind the grill,that the fenders and the grill bolt to.

Drill the spot welds out with a pilot point 3/8ths bit. Drill through both pieces of metal with the pilot part of the bit and just past the first sheet of metal with the shoulder part of the bit. Get them all, and the pieces of metal will separate as if they were never welded.
Re-weld with a mig at low temp directly in the hole created by the pilot point while the two pieces are clamped together. With a little practice, you can reproduce the spot weld look and function. It goes faster than it sounds....

my damage is worse than yours
the battery is smashed into the inner fender,and its bent up pretty good,and it seems the fender ripped away from the inner fender.
im gonna try to straighten it.it doesnt have to be perfect.just work.

This is what happened to me in 1998 (My old 87 Toy 4x4 truck)...It was raining and I T-Boned a girl in an intersection after she hydoplaned into it and the whole clip was toast...I had a grille guard on and it and it pushed everything back...
If I didn't have the grille guard on it would have only took out bumper and brackets and apren...It was totaled, but got it back plus $2500 from insurance...Went to salave yard and got a front clip off of a unrusted 4-Runner clip ($260) and drilled out spot welds on cab horns and inner fender attached to cab and then bolted the repainted to match rest of truck 4-runner clip to truck...The last bolt at top of inner fender (Right side) to cab was a bitch it way above the blower assembly very tight...After I was done everybody I asked couldn't tell it wasn't origanal...One bad thing, I had to cut the factory wiring bundle going into engine compartment by battery and rewire and solder and shrink wrapped them all back together...
If you go this route, label all the wires one at a time as you cut them...I got them all right first time...Guy who bought my truck back in 2000 is still drving it ;} A 2WD clip will work too...Just some things are a little different on the inner fender...
I was lucky and they had just got in 2 rear end weaked 4x4 trucks (Front ends undamaged)...And I got everything (less than 1/4 cost of new) to rebuild it all at once...The 4-runner was just a completely stripped out body laying on the ground...I got firewall forward to radiator supports ...I had to remove new clip (from firewall and cab horns) the same way I removed damaged old clip...Good Luck...

Ps. Radiator support if new comes in 4 pieces (Dealer told me) and have to be welded together and dealer quoted me $1000 for parts and it to be welded together......Radiator support and inner fenders are welded together too...So I went with the used front clip instead...Cheap and easy and fun to do...

Oh that's right on the harness, I was thinking of another vehicle I did a long time ago...Both sides just unplug from everything and wires pull through the big hole on each side...I had a brain fart...I hope nobody read that and cut them...Oppps my bad...
